As someone who got used to the 12 inch MB keyboard, It is def a massive improvement. Sucks that they got rid of the audible click options for trackpad though :(

This is a cruel twist of fate. On my second usage of the butterfly switch 2 on the 2016 MBP? I found myself enjoying the tactile feel of it. This is such an unexpected change of opinion for me.

Correct-a-Mundo!

I recently ran a poll here that bore that out completely. MOST owners prefer it over the old version.

But just like the battery life issues (now solved), the critics don't like to let go. As time goes on the dust settles and we're seeing that the new machines are excellent.

Dell, HP and others don't even BOTHER with their keyboards. Apple tested these new keyboards with trial groups for months and the results are fantastic. Easily the best keyboard I've used.

Or, another possibility, from someone soon on his third keyboard, is that the machine is paid for, no point in complaining daily. That is, I still do not like the keyboard, but, it is what it is...

You cannot say most owners prefer it, because you only have a total of 158 votes and Apple sold much more then 158 MBPs You called me out for saying the high volume of posts/threads about people incurring issues with the MBP is not indicative of a wide spread problem. You then did the same thing about a handful of votes.

Let me rephrase it. Your poll shows of the people who voted, the majority did prefer the new keyboard - no argument. BUT 158 votes is an insufficient population to infer that most 2016 MBP owners as you have stated.

While the defenders have had their heads in the Kool-Aid jug, Apple has been busy capturing machines with bad keyboards for analysis. I guarantee a redesign is coming. Possibly next month.

While the defenders have had their heads in the Kool-Aid jug,
In all fairness that's really not a correct assessment. While I am one of those people critical of the new keyboard based on what I see here and other places. People who like the keyboard are not drinking kool-aid, and many people have not incurred any problem.

I think its sufficient to say that many people like the keyboard and that's fine for them, many also have not had a problem. No reason to slam them as kool-aid drinkers. I respect other opinions even if its contrary to mine.

24 months with the rMB, tried the 2016 MBP, simply another negative, one of the worst keyboards on a portable. Similar to the rMB form over function, unforgivable for an allegedly professional level notebook...

Strangely, I actually liked the 12" keyboard more than the 2016 MBP versions.

In any case, I'd really hoped the super thin profile was only going to be used on the 12" where it was absolutely necessary. I'd just assumed the desktop Magic Keyboard would be what they'd hope to bring to the Pro line due to more space to work with and desire for consistency from desktop to laptop - and I was instantly disappointed when that didn't happen.

I love the Magic Keyboard. It'd be perfect on the Pros and likely wouldn't have all these niggling issues as it's a more normal and proven scissor switch (vs this new butterfly thing they are working on/with)

Well!

Let me point this out. Give this forums propensity for negativity and even "hate" posting, I'd say that the forum poll IS indicative of something since it's more than a little likely that some "I hate it" votes came from non-owners and people who haven't touched it.

I also base my view on inside info I have via Apple stores. That I cannot share the specifics of (my cousin was suspended by Apple for a month over such matters), but I can say with total confidence that the keyboards of the MacBook and newest MPB have met with minimal blow-back out in the actual retail environment.

Now I have decided that I DO want a physical ESC key. I also want the USB-C ports lit because I can't see them in dim light. I also want my SD card slot back and more pickles on my burgers, but we can't have everything.

There will absolutely be tweaks. If they make enough of them I'll even upgrade!
