In store Belkin Ultraglass

Last year I picked up my 16 in store
And got the Ultraglass installed by the Apple
employee. It was worth it because it saved my screen from two drop cracks by taking the damage itself.

This year I am getting my iPhone delivered. Does anyone who has self-installed the Ultraglass had success vs having Apple install it using their special tool?

Also, can you buy the Ultraglass separately and choose pickup and have Apple apply it?

There’s a difference between in-store versions and ones you buy online or on the Apple website. The ones in-store are the only one they’ll install due to the packaging it comes in and the machine they use. If you want them to install it you gotta go to the store.

The Belkin Ultraglass screen protectors they install in the store are a physically different package and SKU from the ones online, you can't order the in store one online as it's an in store exclusive. If you want them to install it, you have to buy it in store in person as the glass protectors are packaged differently since they're used in the applicator device tray thing.

I got it last year and I just went to the store to buy it on launch day in the afternoon after my phone was delivered :)

Off topic: how's the quality of the ultra glass (from Apple Store) compare to the cheap one that can be purchased on Amazon?

Since I am going use the Air naked, wondering if the Ultra Glass in store is better protecting the glasses vs. the cheap glass.

Not much different, but slightly better. This one has a warranty, but it is difficult to get them to actually send a new one, and then you have to take it to store to get installed.

For a couple years I used the Belkin Ultraglass that they installed in the store, then for the 15PM and 16PM I opted to install a Spigen one from Amazon myself at home. Half the price, you get two screen protectors, installation is easy and flawless. I couldn't notice any differences between them in terms of clarity and they all equally held up for the time I had the phone. I can't attest to anything cheaper or with a lesser known name brand though.

That wouldn't be something I've considered or thought about, honestly. I've never had any problems with glare/reflectivity in different lighting conditions both indoor and outdoor. For me personally, anyway.

Likewise, I always get the cheap glass protectors from Amazon, and it works fine (on all of our iPhones). I'll continue using the cheap brand from Amazon lol. Thanks!

Do you know if I can buy through the Apple Store app for in store pickup and it be the one they will install? Or do I have to go wait in line and ask for it specifically?

I can only say the one Apple installed for me lasted a year and actually protected my screen twice due to drops. The protector cracked in two places but when I removed it today the screen beneath was flawless.

As far as I know and remembered, the in store applicator one doesn't even show up in the online Apple Store, you have to go in store and ask for it in person. If you pick up your iPhone they'll install one if you ask, but that would depend on if they have them in stock and whether can they even do it. I remember a couple years ago during the first week or two after the iPhone came out, not all stores had the correct tray template for the Pro Max or something like that so it couldn't be done.
 
I prefer the Belkin in store Apple installed screen protectors. I cracked three last year and Belkin quickly sent me new Apple installed screen protectors. Thinking of not even using a screen protector this year, since Ceramic Shield is supposed to be stronger. I already have gone caseless on my last two phones and they were still flawless.
 
I had the in-store glass on my iPhone 13 Pro and now on my 15 PM. It's really not cheap, but I'm a huge fan and can recommend it. I hate putting these on myself because it always takes a few tries to get it perfect. The glass on my launch-day 15 PM still looks brand new with no scratches. So for me, they're absolutely worth it.

So, no scratches on the phone from going caseless? That’s what prevents me doing that. I’m always using my phone in the car and placing it in different compartments. Plus, running and working out. I hate scratches.

I go mostly case free for years, never had the phone scratched, but use a screen protector as the screen still scratches easily and I hate those.

Nothing. Have gone caseless two years in a row and phone is still flawless. Surprised.

Which is either you get it in store pickup or buy it on site at Apple Store. The ones sold elsewhere and Apple online store isn’t in the special packaging made for the application machine and has the stuff you put it on yourself

Same when it was my first week with my iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone came last minute before a business trip so I didn’t have time to buy a case before I left but I was extra careful about it
