All iPads In Store Pick Up Time Question

Ordering an iPad for pickup and would like to go early before work to get it (around 8am-ish). The mall is in the direction of heavy Detroit Friday rush hour traffic. I would like to avoid that by not going in the evening. Also, going home and then heading back out to get it after the traffic just is not smart when it comes to gas. I know that Apple opens early for genius appointments. Can you go in and pick up your order that was placed online for in store pickup during this time? This is providing you have received your email stating you can pick it up.
