Also sitting at the table are a bunch of old lady’s that are having Apple employees walk them through setting up thier phones and using basic features. At that point you’ll realize why you’ve been waiting so long.

I'm almost 62. I'll act like I'm senile.

The experience is so epic. There's nothing like it that even comes close, not even sex.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Let's not get all carried away there!

I assume you've never had sex? :D

Have done several launch day pickups for IPhone and IPads and they are well managed. Usually they have two lines outside the store; one for the sold/reserved devices and the other for the campers and scalpers. Never saw more than ten people in the reserved pick up line as compared to the long walkin lines. With a reserved pickup they have the phones separate from the walk availability stock if any. The Apple employee takes you from the line to a transaction table to finalize the pickup. You have a choice to make at this point. You can leave the store and go home, or have them do the initial set up at a separate table. I have always done the store set up which starts the unit and allows you to view the screen quality, and receive your sale lnfo on your e-mail and hence check your setup. This in my opinion beats waiting for UPS/FedEx truck on launch day for delivery when they are swamped.

What if you miss the pick up time window? Will they immediately sell the phone to someone else?
I fly in on launch day and am not sure if I will make it in time (will be selecting the last possible time window already, of course).
