In store pickup iPhone 7 - iPhone Upgrade Program

Hey guys,

I got an email reserving my iPhone 7 for pick up at the apple store on launch and was wondering if I get priority over people standing in line all night?

A very specific Q&A caught my eye in the email when I ordered the wrong model...

Can I change or cancel my reservation after I’ve confirmed it?
"You can’t change or cancel your reservation. However, if you’d like to change the model you reserved, a Specialist can check the availability of a different iPhone when you come in. Due to high demand, the availability of some models may be limited."

Does this mean I'll have priority on selecting the actual phone I want instead of the one I ordered on launch day in the store.. Over the other people who stood out in line?

When you arrive at the store, you can change your phone if they have that phone in stock. You don't get priority over anyone.

Yes there's a separate line for reservations. Make sure you check in with a specialist a soon as you get there.

If someone's reserved it, that phone has been allocated to them and hence will not be "available".

It'd be no different from me walking in on the day without a order and asking if they have a specific model in stock.

I'm pretty sure when I picked up my 6S last year I remember other people switching to different colors and such when they were in the store despite having a different model reserved.

I slept through my 3 AM alarm and woke up at 5 AM to preorder and found that the 128 GB 7+ matte black T-Mobile was sold out at all of my local Apple stores. So I went ahead and reserves the only color left, rose gold.

Hoping to switch to matte black when I'm there. If not, maybe I'll just have to be patient. Good luck!
 
I ended up reserving a T-Mobile iPhone 7 256 matte black.

I'm going to try my luck seeing if they have the 256GB 7 Plus matte black when I go to pick up on the 16th.

If not, I'll forfeit the reservation on the 7.
 
Last year at my store there were two completely separate lines. One for the very tired people who had been there all night, and a second, very organized line for people who had reservations for the AUP.

Didn't Apple limit the lines initially on launch day to only those that had reservations last year (6S)? I remember people having to log in each day to try and snag a reservation for the day and that Apple wasn't allowing walk-ins?

I don't know for sure if they let them in or not (I was the second person in the door so I wasn't paying much attention to anything else) but they weren't sending them away...

I am in Phoenix - in Gilbert, actually, very close to the San Tan store, which is where I did my AUP last year. I have no idea what the "rules" are for camping out and whether they will have the popular colors/models in stock for walk ins. Sorry, but good luck!

Apple Upgrade Program. Some people say IUP for iPhone Upgrade Program. Same thing. :)

My bad. Reservation only was in non-sales tax states only. I had to look it up. I forgot that it was only because I live in Oregon.

I'm thinking the same thing and hoping haha. Should we make a call to Apple?
