I placed an order for in-store pickup this Friday. When I ordered I picked a time slot, I think it was 10-10-30am or something like that. The email confirmation has nothing about the time, only "We'll notify you when these items are ready. In-Store pickup instructions will be included in the email we send when your order is ready for pickup."

So my question is, when can I expect to get some sort of confirmation as to my pickup time? Also, has anybody run into a situation where their confirmed time was different than what they selected? The store is an hour drive for me so it would be nice to get confirmation well in advance.

Typically you should get the ready for pick up e-mail sometime Thursday or Friday early morning at best. For me the got the ready for pick up e-mail past midnight on launch day.

If you did choose that pick up time slot from 10 to 10:30 am, it will be there.

Not to worry. They will contact you in plenty of time. Your original pickup time will stand. I had in store pickup and it went perfectly smooth.

Not sure if this is the case for all, when I click "My orders" on the apple website, I can see the pick up time there too.

I get mine morning of between 12am/6/7am. You will have no problems with time slots, it is already yours. Any year I didn’t get 8am exactly I still always went at 8am and they still gave me mine. You’re good with time slot

Excellent, thanks much everyone! Unfortunately I can't view my orders on the app or website at the moment because the store is down ahead of the event today.

Picked up my iPad Air a couple of weeks ago. I got the email the day before, and the night before, received a text as well. Very easy process. You will probably get your notice anywhere between Wednesday night and early Friday am.

I'm doing pickup as well. After the iPad experience, I'm not concerned. :) Enjoy your phone when you get it!

OP:
Once the store receives the phone, they will tag it as yours and will send you a text message.

I picked up my 12 Pro on launch weekend at the Brea, CA Apple Store without a problem.

On launch weekends, the crowds can get large so be prepared to get in line about 10 minutes before your appointment window.f

Maybe different during a Covid launch. They still have pre order stock for launch day at my store. But we are a small town...

I wish the Apple store would allow pickup by prepaid customers who pre-paid on Apple.com because I was livid at Apple.com for taking my money a week in advance (sight unseen), and be told it would deliver in 3 weeks.

Never ever pre-order from Apple unless you want to be disappointed.

I ended up getting the 12 Pro on launch weekend at the Apple Store.

Returned the Apple.com order on their dime and along with a nasty message.

I went to pick up my 12 Pro a day before what was scheduled and it was fine (obviously I didn’t pre order/order for launch day, I placed my order a week after the launch).
The status was ready for pick up on the Apple Store app and I was nearby so I tried and it worked.
As they say on the email you will receive, the time slots ensure that you will not wait a long time in the line but if you come after (or before in my case) you might wait a little longer than usual. Luckily the Apple Store I chose was empty that day.
