I have a reservation on Apple.com for a October 4th expected ship date. However I am curious how the In-store-pickup reservations will work this year? Will I have to cancel my Apple.com order before I can check stock in my local Apple Store Friday morning?

It is Friday. Generally there is a second line. And you can come at any point during the day to pick it up.

"In the U.S., Apple has temporarily called a halt to in-store shopping reservations for the iPhone 7 — but those will reopen at 8 a.m. on Sept. 17, potentially giving people who missed launch-day preorders another shot at getting a device within the next two weeks."

The hault is for people trying to make reservations now. If your reservation is already in your are fine.

Yes, hence his question about making a reservation, not that he already has one to pick up on Friday.

Apple stores are well organized on launch day. Very crowded but they get it done.
