We are obviously well ahead of the game here as we're looking at it being at least another two months until we get Apple Watch, but do you think Apple will offer In-Store pickup for the Apple Watch. I'd love to be able to go and pick it up from the store, so I know I'm getting it launch day, but not have to worry about the model I want not being in stock.

It was offered for the iPhone 6, which I didn't purchase, but for the iPad Air 2, which I did purchase, I was unable to get it on in-store pickup and had to get it delivered.

Any ideas? Or is it unlikely as it's a new category.

You can do that for the iPhone purchase, why wouldn't you be able to do instore pickup for the watch?

I'm talking about launch day pickup. It wasn't available for iPad Air 2.

Launch day pickups are sometimes available, sometimes not. So whether or not it was avaiable for iPhone 6 isn't a good indicator of whether it'll be avaiable for the Apple watch.

Overall, I think it's better to assume there will be no launch day in store pickups, but be on the lookout for that option, and take advantage of it if it is offered.

Probably not. I do not think they do that for iphones or ipads. The stores would be slammed with people waiting in line and people waiting for in store pickup. During the first few days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday it would probably be first come first serve in stores.

They HAVE done it in the past, and it's not that difficult to make people form two lines -- one for in store pickup and one for walk ins. When you arrive at the store, they have someone asking you which model you want, so when they have in store pickup, that person also asks if you are there for pickup, and if you say yes, they send you to the pickup line.

which iphone/ipad did they do that for? I seriously cannot ever remember that being an option. Maybe I am thinking of preorder dates and not the actual release date.

It was an option for the iPhone 6. Not sure about other products though.

They did it for the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 6. I know because I did that both times. Order online during preorder for pickup on launch day. Both times you got to go in a separate line from everyone that didn't preorder. Just get in line a bit early, and those lines were the first ones let in to pick up your confirmed device waiting just for you.

It's a great system and one I plan to use again if offered for the Apple Watch.

That is really good to know. I also would prefer to go that route. I am sure it would be a lot faster than iphones since there is no activation needed.
