Hi All,
With my pre-order, I chose in-store trade in. Is it possible to do the trade-in at the store the day *after* I pick up my phone? I don’t want to be rushed while in the store to do an iPhone to iPhone restore (I don’t back up to the cloud). I also would prefer not to drop off the trade in and have something go wrong with my restore process/esim at home and have no backup phone to use. Thanks.

You can do in-store trade in and have it credited to your recent purchase before the return period is up. Personally, I never choose a trade-in option as there’s no difference in value within those first two weeks after a new phone is released. I can still go into a store, give Apple my phone and have it credited.

You do it in store.

So I think you are saying that I can do the in-store trade in at the later date? Thanks!

So you basically just order the phone for store pick up or shipping without selecting any trade in option. Then just go to any Apple store with the trade in phone to get the credit/refund applied?

I chatted with apple, they told me I have 14 days to bring the phone in the store, so you can do the trade in at a later date.
I never knew you could do this. I always traded same day as pickup which is always a major pain. Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if this is true for the iPhone Upgrade Program as well?
I'm almost positive it is not. Been on the iUP since 2015 and for in-store pick up, it requires to hand over the device right then and there to close out the previous loan. I really wish it was an option because I prefer device to device set up rather than iCloud restore.

That would be a shame, especially because I know you get 14 days to ship it back if you don't do in store pickup. I'm trying to chat with a specialist but have been waiting in queue for a half hour.

Can someone clarify my thoughts on this one based on what I am reading? I normally do delivery for my new phone, but with the dates being earlier this time around for in store, I went that route. If I am ready and prepared next Fri, I can just ask the associated to take my turn in when I am checking out with the new phone? I don't recall seeing anywhere to select a in store trade in.

When I checked out in the app today for an ISPU there was an option for me to select In Store Trade-In or for them to Ship me a Box. I chose the box as I wanted to setup at home and didn't really want to make the 2hr round trip back to the Apple Store again just to trade in my old phone but I have this as a backup option if I so desire.

somehow i got set up to have boxes shipped to me for my watch and iphone i'm trading in.

can i instead just go into the store? or does having selected mail return lock you in? i don't trust the mail-in stuff and i don't want my credit card to be credited if possible.

I believe if you select mail in you are locked in. That’s because the credit has already been applied to your order.

If the discount hasn’t been applied, I believe you can ignore the boxes and take it in store within 14 days of receiving the new devices.

well the credit is definitely not applied to my order - it explicitly said it would be refunded when the trade-in was received, and i paid the full amount up front for sure.

this might be different when using an Apple Card to pay? i don't remember - but this time i used a different rewards card.

so it sounds like it should be fine.
