They still do, AT&T just covers part of the cost, which is why the whole upgrade eligibility date is coming in to question for a lot of people. AT&T wants to make sure they have made their money back for the portion of your phone they paid for.

Yes, but on the original iPhone, even though it wasn't being subsidized, you STILL had to make a 2 year commitment. So then it was 599 for 2 years, now its 299 for 2 years.

My point being that we are getting a lot more phone for a lot less money. And so, who cares about the dock! (which was the original point).
