chaosbunny said:I can only second this. As proud owner of a (free) Eizo 21" widescreen monitor I must say that the quality of this thing still surprises me. It's a little more expensive than the apple 20" but in terms of picture quality, brightness and calibration it blows both the apple and the dell displays away. A friend of mine has the dell 20 incher and we got a 20" acd at the agency and if I compare them to what I'm used to at home the colours look almost dull. It's like putting a powerbook screen next to an acd. Really big difference. If you got the money I'd recomend the Eizo over both dell and apple monitors, you won't be disappointed. Plus Eizo gives you 5 years warranty!
Yeah for the 12" PowerBook you need a mini-DVI to VGA for the Samsung 710n or the Dell E176FP. Both monitors you listed are "analog" which means VGA. Since you're on a budget, I don't think you could afford digital monitor, which is DVI.furrina said:My BF has a 12" powerbook and really needs an external monitor so he can clamshell it and not have to look down into the screen.
I'm thinking of getting something like this:

(Dell E176FP Flat Panel Monitor)
or this

Samsung SyncMaster 710N
Can he use this type of monitor with his pb,
and if he needs a converter what sort does he need? I have my 15" pb plugged right in to my Apple 20" aluminum screen, no AVI cable necessary but I think most other ones require something like that?
We run 2 dell 2405s and 2 2005s here and we are very pleased with them. We calibrate them often and use them for photography / print / web work.arcsbite said:hope this thread is in the right place.
basically, i'm using an intel iMac at the moment, and have it hooked up to a cheap 17" PC world TFT.
In september (if they've been released) I will be upgrading to an "intel powermac" and as this is the first time i've had to think about buying a complete new monitor I though it best to ask the experts...
I want to pick up an Apple monitor to go with it, but it's possible I won't have the cash at the time, so I was wondering, can you reccomend a monitor?
I've no idea when it comes to them (I only just got over CRT to flat screens, now there's TFT LCD HD ECT!)
so, what monitor do you use? how much does it retail for and how do you rate it?
P.S. not sure if it matters, but i'm based in the UK (I'm assuming that most monitors are available here as well as the good ol US of A)
cheers....

Doesn't the 12" PowerBook come with this?shrimpdesign said:Yeah for the 12" PowerBook you need a mini-DVI to VGA for the Samsung 710n or the Dell E176FP. Both monitors you listed are "analog" which means VGA. Since you're on a budget, I don't think you could afford digital monitor, which is DVI.
