Removing existing features from already marketed and purchased products... Like removing the back seat from my car after I considered other cars and purchased "this one"... It's this kind of thing that has me backing off on purchasing Apple products in the future. New Apple motto: "It may work for a while - then maybe it won't." Whaat? Who needs that?

It makes sense, the Pencil is not meant to be used as a tool to navigate the UI with, it's meant to be used for drawing.

Why Apple decided to introduce the Pencil WITH that feature is beyond me. They should have left it like it was instead of taking it away.

It doesn't make sense to me. If you're going to have a stylus - then you should be able to use it anywhere you could use your finger. I'd love to know Apple's official response and reasoning behind it because it makes little sense for the consumer.

Massive, massive mistake...
If true i wont upgrade to 9.3....
this is ridiculous... Its dictatorial, unreasonable and stupid.

I love using my pencil to navigate... Its clean and easy... My screen stays clean way longer....
It less obtrusive...
And i use my fingers when need or convenient.. Like gestures..for zoom ..etc.

Apple dont do this, your dictatorial ways are getting suffocating.

*moves finger to select text*

*releases finger off the screen*

*iOS selects an additional character at the end*

*touches the screen to move the slider to unselect the additional character*

*it unselected too many characters*

*touches the screen to move the slider to reselect the missing character*

gg apple

Thank god for 3d touch, haven't had that problem since September.

Cue everyone who doesn't own an iPad Pro/Apple Pencil being outraged by this rumor.

Valid to a point. I'm not outraged in the slightest. I find it very confusing though. Further - if I was considering buying an iPad Pro and Pencil before - I can tell you that this news would be a consideration on that purchase. And I think a legitimate one.

If Apple was smart, they would simply create an on/off toggle for it. Case closed. If they don't, they are stupid and Tim Cook needs to pull his head out of his **s!

I'm not sure why they did it either. I hardly ever use the pencil for OS navigation but it's clear some people do. Hopefully someone can get an explanation from Apple as to why they changed it.

This is dumb. The pencil awarded a level of precision not possible with a finger, especially on non-drawing apps. They probably want to encourage devs to update their apps to support the pencil, but this is not the way to go about it.
