inconsistent iMessaging on iPhone 5?

Anyone else experiencing inconsistent iMessaging on the iPhone 5? My phone isn't regularly using iMessage. This has nothing to do with the wifi issue, as I have wifi turned off or is not available. I'm on full LTE though and have internet/data access. Suggestions?
