Background story: So as a student, my bank card have a daily purchase limit. In order to buy the 15" rMBP that I wanted, I went to the Apple Store to get a $1500 gift card the first. The next day, I went in again to buy it with the Apple Store gift card and to pay the balance with my debit card. Apparently, there were issues with the server at that time so they couldn't use the gift card. Instead, they offered to "refund" me the money, and pay it with "cash" and put the rest on my debit card. In the end, I asked the girl if I could keep the gift card and she said sure. Now here's the strange part: Out of curiosity, I just checked the balance of the card and it turns out that the balance is still $1500! I know that there could be a delay, but it's been 48 hours. Something probably went wrong with the transaction when they refunded the money. I know the right thing to do would probably be to return the card to that Apple Store. But I wonder if they will be able to track me down if I use it or sell it?
