increase/decrease notification banner duration?

Nope, there are no current options that I'm aware of that allow you to control this.

If you go to the Settings app under Notifications you can select to have them stay on screen until action is taken.

correct me if i'm mistaken, but doesn't that only work for Alerts, not Banners?

That's correct, but isn't the only difference the size and placement on the screen?

hmm, well, i think i'd like to keep the banner format without the need to press a button to make the Alert go away, but simply increase the time a banner displays for. sometimes i think it disappears too fast, for my pref.
