Resolved Incredibly annoying window focus issue using OS X 10.6.8

I have been having a problem only recently involving window focus using my MBP running 10.6.8. For some reason every couple of minutes my windows lose focus and I have to click on them to regain the focus. If I'm watching a video in fullscreen, the Dock appears out of nowhere when this happens. When the windows lose focus, I can press ⌘ + Q and the window I was using regains focus. This makes me believe it is some sort of program that is causing the problem.

Can anyone suggest how I can figure out what is causing the problem and how I can fix it? Thanks!

You could either start killing processes until the problem goes away, or run activity monitor, wait for the focus to be grabbed, do the command-Q and see what process vanishes from the list.

Could be a mouse issue.

I think I may have figured it out. I use Automatic.app to automatically download stuff via RSS. I updated to the new beta version and its only been happening since then. I've gone back to the stable release and it seems to have been fixed. Thanks for the ideas!
