Thank heck for this...my friend went away on holiday, leaving me his bricked iPhone with no original SIM (he wanted me to get it working)...I'm not seeing him for a month, and really want to play with an iPhone for that time...hopefully this will work

ADDITION: Damn! Doesn't work with phones that came with 1.1.2 out of the box...is there any way to get this phone to work with an O2 Pay&Go SIM?

I thought the whole point of iNdependence 1.3 was for 1.1.2 OOTB phones. Do you mean the jailbreak doesn't work of the unlock?

I can't be bothered faffing around with the above instructions I'd like iNdependence to sort it for me.... Hmmm might have to wait a few more days if it doesn't work.

If anyone tries this with 1.1.2 OOTB please let us know here for both jailbreak and unlock (to O2-based/ATT sims).

What sim would you like to use? If it's any O2 or Tesco then you should be ok.

Have you tried restoring the phone and trying again?

It does work. My mate did his in 20 minutes flat.

I am having problems going from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 - the prefirmware upgrade won't connect via SSH and when it did it took 10 minutes and froze! wierd!
