Indesign CS5 - End of document references (technical papers)

HI,

Basically, how do you make indesign automatically update references in text?

For example, if I have the text "The following equation by Newton[1]..." how do I get Indesign to link to the reference page at the end of the document and say I change the [1] to [2] it updates the reference.

Currently I have to do it manually.. and that will get annoying!

I believe that you are looking for cross references. They are located in the hyperlink panel.

The Adobe website has lots of information on cross references.

Endnotes

Endnotes are sadly missing in Indesign. For the most comprehensive coverage use Endnote X4 in Microsoft Word and then import into Indesign for production. There are some cludges that can be used - see below for an example.
