Indesign - zoom marquee not working

Late 2015 iMac. Sierra. Indesign CC 2018.

Trying, as I have done a zillion times before, to draw a marquee using the zoom tool. But it's not working. I just get the usual zoom tool functionality - no marquee. Help!

Found the solution!!
Preferences, GPU Performance. Uncheck "animated zoom." That's it.
Guess there's something fishy about Indesign CC 2018.

If by "fishy" you mean "they added an optional feature that alters the way an existing one works," then yes, something fishy is going on. 😉
