My iPhone was lost for 3 weeks. It was recovered in the elevator shaft of my apartment. It sustained incredible damage, likely from the elevator coming down on it. Amazingly, it works perfectly! No deficit that I can detect (other than cosmetic).

OP, do you plan on repairing it? You could probably get the mid bezel and back glass for fairly cheap; front looks fine from the pics.

Amazing phone and story btw, I kinda miss my old 4. Sent from my iPad.

I'm so glad they took care of all those horrible quality control issues with the 4/4S on the 5.

Look at that horrible example of bendgate... not to mention the terrifying back shattergate (because they made both the front AND back out of glass).

Elevators don't actually touch the bottom of the shaft, there are very large springs there to slow down an out of control car. Your issues were from the fall itself, pretty durable if you ask me.

My only question is how did you "lose" it down the shaft? Only way for that to happen is for it to fall between the 1/2 inch crack between the door and floor....... surely you knew you dropped it down there?

Oh wow. OP, I'd suggest you go ahead and get a new backplate and mid bezel and fix this right up. Still in complete working order. You could find a shop that'll do it for you can do it yourself with all the right tools.

I have always felt the gap in the elevator of my apartment was too large. I'm never using my phone getting on the elevator again

Dear god, I thought I bent my iPhone. Clearly, I was mistaken by comparison. Good on ya haha.
