Indexing?

    Hello i have tiger on my iBook. Spotlight has just gone onto 'Indexing' mode and says it has 24 houres left. What does this mean???

    It is indexing all the files on your hard drive so that when you enter a search term it can pull up the results (almost) instantaneously.

    Yup, it means that it's going through your HD and making a list of every file so you can recall them faster next time you use Spotlight.

    If you never use spotlight, it's sort of a waste of time to have it index everything in your harddrive.

    So do what I did, open the system preferences - spotlight - privacy tab - drag your entire harddrive icon into it.

    That will stop it from not indexing your harddrive, unless you want it to index everything ;)
