I think Apple will wait until the tech has matured and it actually gives a benefit - at the moment its just more to cram into a very small space - they're trying to reduce internal volume and so this wouldn't be a priority unless it meant that they could get rid of the connector port - which is unlikely at the moment.
I know. I was just making the point that there is still much work to be done in the area.

Laying it on the pad to charge and picking it up all the time to use it cannot be good for the battery at all.
Go to Apple.com, there you'll find all the info you need to educate yourself on Apple's batteries.

They can handle the type of usage and charging I'm suggesting quite well.

Apple is smarter than you give them credit for.

I have, but to do this all the time? 20 times a day of charge/no charge/charge/no charge and so on....

So charging is going to stay the way it is now for all eternity? I imagine there is much innovation to be done in the charging of mobile devices area. Imagine being able to charge using solar power and never having to worry about plugging it in, it can be done with some R&D.

True wireless charging (sans pad) will come in the not so distant future. I imagine Apple will jump on board with that as soon as they are able, and bypass inductive charging completely.

Unlikely. Inductive charging will remain the only practical game in town for a long time.

I agree, but I still think Apple will wait until it arrives, and bypass inductive charging altogether. Even if it takes 10-15 years. Inductive charging as it is is just a gimmick. Too many downsides, not enough upsides.

Edit: Witricity apparently already has power capture devices that can fit in cellphones, so maybe it won't be that long.

Firestarter said inductive charging is less efficient than wired.
You contradicted that statement with your next two.

You implied wired is less efficient, but that isn't what firestarter said

Indeed.

I spelled out that wireless charging was less efficient, as the poor quality of David's English and sentence construction made a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer difficult.

David... Loose the attitude and work on your reading comprehension, please!
