Hello everybody (Hi Doctor Nick)

I was wondering if anybody had / has the same problem I have with iChat

I'm currently running on a WiFi connection and everytime I try to video chat with somebody running on a Mac it seems like the connection starts off great and then suddenly drops.

I'm assuming it has something to do with the WiFi connection but I have more than sufficient bandwidth speeds and I can't get myself to believe that in this technologically advanced world Apple wouldn't fully support WiFi to WiFi video chatting connections (since that capability is one of the many strong points of getting a Mac in the first place)

If anybody has had a similar problem and knows how to fix it so I can maintain an efficient connection with my friends / family then please PM me or better yet reply in this thread.

Thanks!

Is this with both/either your iMac and/or Powerbook?

Is is when both/either you/others initiate the videochat?

Have you tried another videochat client like Skype?

Try repairing disk permissions (in Disk Utility)...

I haven't tested it with my Powerbook

Both ways have shown the same results

I have not I'll be sure to try it but I would prefer iChat

Try repairing disk permissions (in Disk Utility)...

If all else fails I will

Same Problem

I've been having the exact same problem on my MacBook!
and everywhere I look I can not find a solution.
I as well have a much high connection speed then would be required.
I'm shocked to see that no one else seems to be having this problem.

If you have comcast as an ISP it is them, not you.

Comcast advertising extremely fast speeds until you use it for more then 20 seconds. After that they drop you to a speed slower then dial up! It is ridiculous!

Get rid of them... go ATT or Verizon.
