I've seen a nice promo for a MBP (US) with AppleCare. The shop ships to Canada no problem. Will I have any trouble to get support with Canadian Apple stores later on? I expect it to be problem free, just want to be sure.

thanks!

Nope, none at all. Just make sure when you get the machine that the purchase date shows up as verified and the applecare is properly registered. :)

HERE.
You might have to send apple a copy of your receipt if it doesn't. I've had to do that before and all is well within 2 days.

the real problem is if the Customs Canada puts taxes on it. sometimes it could end up being more expensive to buy stuff online that comes from overseas than the slightly higher retail price in Canada.

It may not be a great deal considering that Canada Customs does apply taxes on it. And currency exchange plays a role as well. A $1500 USD MacBook is equivalent to about $1700 CAD, keep that in mind :)

I ordered from Adorama because they had the free AppleCare bundle. They also write that duties and tax is included..

This is exciting for Canadian consumers because:

Tax & Duty Included shipping is really cheap! Cheaper than options available from other US stores, and much cheaper than the previous UPS Expedited option. Our quick check shows that shipping costs are, on average, 50% less! Most items ship for less than $20, which is competitive with Canadian retail store shipping.
Adorama Calculates the Tax & Duty & Brokerage, and charges you at time of sale. That means the final price you pay to Adorama is the final price to you. No more surprises, and no worrying about the tax bill from your courier when your shipment arrives.

I hope I'm okay, credit card is not billed yet because the laptop is backorder.

the exchange rate with the banking fee is currently 1.12$ for a dollar. I still save because of free Apple Care. You guys make me doubt.

:)

Adorama are saying that the tax and duty is included but I found '11-12 posts that says UPS are still charging extra fees..

so not sure about their 'fixed price' UPS canadian shipping.

Ah I see, what about purchasing a new mid-2014 model from the Apple Canada store with education pricing? You could get the 2.6GHz/16GB RAM/256GB space model for about $1850 with tax included. Not a bad deal.

Dont think I could get away with edu pricing but needed 512gb Ssd. I have 350 GB of music and photograph that I prefer to have under hands.

NEVER use UPS to ship from US to Canada.
They charge outrageous fees - on top of any duty and taxes.
Just Google it.

I use the Post Office (USPS or Canada Post etc.) - best deal on shipping.

I did google but didn't find post related to adorama in the last year (2011-2012). They use a method that should be duty free but taxes apply.

That is why I went back to apple canada
