Infuse: access files from Nvidia Shield TV

Hi, is it possible to access video files from Nvidia Shield TV. I have Shield TV with 2 External hard drives connected to it. Will Infuse able to access the files through the Shield. As i'm considering buying an Apple TV 4K with erthernet connection.

as long as the shield will share the files, then the infuse will be able to see them

You'll need to use SMB, (samba or regular windows file sharing), which is kinda the default way to file share, so you're probably ok.
If you can open a finder window on your Mac (or file explorer on a windows machine) and see the file share, then you should also be able to access it from infuse.

Does your router allow for external storage? (As in USB connection)...If so, perhaps play a bit with that.

That's called a NAS box (Network Attached Storage). Common NAS makers are QNAP, Synology, and Buffalo.

Note that a NAS does not directly connect to an Apple TV Ethernet port to provide local storage. A NAS is meant to be on the same network and can provide file sharing via industry standard protocols supported by a limited number of apps such as Infuse, Plex, and VLC.

No USB ports on the router.

Pity. Was hoping that would give you at least temp remedy and then discover items like a NAS. If all you are doing is playback for the most part of movies, there are plenty of 2 drive capable NAS out there that will provide you will both drives having the same data storage to avoid the tragedy of a single drive failure.

I have been using NAS for more than 2 decades and nearly always for media files and a few select sensitive files. Its a great way to serve up your movies across several devices on your network. However, best to plan things out and know what you want to do first before making any purchase.
