Into the lungs of Hell
Hi guys,

Whenever I launch a pages/numbers/keynote/textedit/preview document, the application hangs for about 2-4 seconds (with the legendary rainbow wheel). I cannot figure out why this is the case.

I thought it was a font issue, so I restored fonts and used the default ones. After, I changed accounts, reinstalled operating systems and the issue still remains on my 27" iMac. I've run Onyx's almost all maintenance service and its still there.

Would you assume this issue to be with the hard disk or caching data from the hard disk? It could be due to excessive page fault or demand paging handling.

Anyone?

Initial Hang when launching textedit

My hang on opening textedit (with revolving rainbow for 150 seconds) was due to textedit attempting to access an autosaved file on a remote machine that was no longer accessible. (It did not hang with Airport Off.)

To 'forget' the autosaved file, move the TextEdit autosave information to trash:

/Users/youruser/Library/Autosave Information/com.apple.TextEdit.plist
