Hi,

Can anyone say how much difference there is in input lag between the regular iMac monitor (2560x1440) and the retina version? This is using the iMac for gaming. Is there a big noticeable difference?

Thanks!

I noticed a bit with the Bluetooth Keypad. I was planning to replace that anyway. I notice no difference with my mechanical installed now. Will you be gaming at 2560x1440? Is this a new 27" iMac? It's tough to get good frame rates at 5120x2880 with the top 580.

Anything GPU intensive you'll need to run at 2560x1440. I'll be faulted in here for this comment, but if you're into Windows 10 gaming your better off saving for a PC Gaming Tower and Monitor. Boot Camp is a PITA with drivers. Yes, you can get buy if your casual. But don't plan on being a Power Gamer on a 27" with the 580. :apple:

And it doesn't even have to be a gaming "tower" which makes people think all gamers use cases the size of the first Mac Pro. There are micro ATX (mini tower) and mini ITX (short cube/rectangle) cases.

I have a mini-ITX system in a water-cooled NCASE M1, but it's nice to have 1 computer (iMac) for all my needs (work & game), I'm not using my PC anymore.

A couple milliseconds (worst case) due to the data running through the TCON.

Only the most hypersensitive twitch style game players could notice a difference between the iMac 2.5k and 5k.

If you can happily game on an iMac with a 1440p screen than you can do the same on a 5k iMac.
