4 hourse usage in 2 days.... man what the hell are you doing?! i got 4 hours of usage after 5 or 6 hours :D addiction too damn high!

My iPhone 5 is the first iPhone I've had that can go a couple of days without a charge!

Signal strength does make a massive difference. I've had femtocells at home and work since before the 5, and noticed the improvement on my 4S. Not up to the battery life the iPhone 5 is getting, though.

One thing I can't use is Exchange (for Google Mail) on Push. Has to be Fetch. It might just because I receive such a huge volume of email, but Exchange on Push obliterates my iPhone battery (always has, this isn't new) and I barely get a waking day.

Couldn't be happier with battery life on the iPhone 5. A massive step in the right direction. And in a thinner, lighter, more powerful device. Astounded.

You're getting good battery because you're idling on wifi, Apple's power management made that possible, when on standby the phone is pretty much shut down but when you get a notification it briefly turns on. Leaving it like that will probably make it go down 1% every few hours since when I sleep it'll maybe drop from 100% to 99% now if you get a lot of notifications when you're sleeping then obviously your phone battery will take a hit. It can go from full to 75% off of 25 notifications.

Why? That would fall under normal usage...

Because of course you're going to get better battery life with Wifi. We're only interested in LTE life. It's frustrating when some of us are getting 5-6 hours and then people make claims of 8+ hours when really it's because they're primarily using Wifi.

----------

Been using my phone for 1 hour and I'm at 79%.

Absolutely unacceptable.

Its only noobs whom go 3G/4G when its the year of 2012.
Seriously. There is no reason to go 3G/4G when there is Wifis everywhere. You're just too silly to understand I guess.

Your name is pretty self explanatory.

You're assuming everyone has wifi. Which is not only wrong but stupid. Not everyone is at home/work all the time. You know people TRAVEL. Not to McDonalds or Burger King, but actual PLACES. Not everyone has the school wifi password os has optimumwifi. You just come across as very socially awkward

Socially awkward? In text? Okay, sir. But Let me put it down for ya.
Every PLACE, you're talking about. Has. WiFi.
If you're living in Bagdad I can understand your point but every PLACE nowdays has wifi. Most of the places. Most.. Social Places.... Did I make myself clear?

my school doesn't have wifi, the movie theatres doesn't have wifi, most of the places in the mall doesn't have wifi, the airport has wifi in only some places, most restaurants don't have any usable wifi. And I live in a pretty popular part of New Jersey so don't try that excuse. You're the one on the iPhone board saying "cell connection is for noobs". Then go to the iPod Touch forum.

I'm sorry if I come off rude but I tend to respond with rude attitude when there is someone being rude.
Logic, right?
Okay. So your school doesn't have WiFi? You should complain. Seriously.
Thats some of the weirdest shiet I have heard. So.. You can't work on the internet in class? You need to have 3G to do that work?

Some people here in Sweden, by the age of 10 they get iPads for their schools. So that they can use these to surf the web.

I see where you're coming from but you have to understand that sometimes people have reasons for not using wifi in those places.

For example, I know many people who prefer to use cellular data than use their workplace's wifi while at work for fear of managers/bosses finding out what they've been browsing and more specifically, when they've been browsing (i.e. when they should have been working ;))

Furthermore, lots of places like restaurants, malls, cafes etc might have a wifi connection but often, in my own experiences, while the connection is decent enough to browse websites, it is unsuitable for streaming services (youtube, netflix, high quality audio). I would rather use my own 10-20mbps 3G connection over a 2/3 mbps free wifi connection for this sort of use. With the advancements made in LTE coverage in the US (still waiting on EE to release their 4G network over here in the UK ), lots of people prefer to use their superfast LTE connection over an often much slower public connection.

Finally, in my own experiences, people also prefer using their own cellular connection to view personal stuff/online banking/sending confidential emails rather than using an unsecure wifi connection in a public place.

I hope I've illustrated just a few of the reasons why people prefer to use cellular data in certain situations over wifi. Unfortunately, cellular uses much more battery than wifi which is why people often like to compare battery statistics with internet use mostly confined to cellular data.

That pretty much covers everything. Yes. You made some points.
But the thing is, would you wait 1 or 2 seconds for the page to load or would you want your battery to die in 3 hours? If I'm supposed to lay down bricks for your statement #2.

Again, I understand your reasoning and I'm not trying to get into an argument but the point I was trying to make in number 2 wasn't solely limited to browsing webpages. The main illustration of that point was to try and explore the fact that the user experience with regards to using streaming services will be very poor especially in 2012 where HD video and high quality audio is the norm. Streaming video is something that I occasionally like to do in between my lectures/breaks. My decent 3G connection is something that I appreciate quite alot.

Streaming HD videos on a slow wifi connection = either being downgraded to poorer quality or watching the video buffer every 10-20 seconds (VERY frustrating)

Also, I must implore that I've found the difference between 2-3mbps and 10-20mbps when browsing a very picture heavy website to be much more substantial than a couple of seconds extra waiting time.

This is absolutely not true. Most social places do not have WIFI. Please don't make a broad statement you CANNOT back up.

As I stated earlier. Last weekend I didn't use wifi at all( had it turned off) and I got 63 hours on one charge.

here's mine.

What does that have to do with anything? Your phone has been plugged in.

this is true at 3%. i'm weary of leaving it go less than that. but yes being plugged in at 3% is what typically get.

If anyone has crappy battery life try a DFU reset. You can certainly use a backup to get back to normal.

I did it and went from 4 hour usage to over 6 hour usage (all LTE)
