I thought Coolbook didn't support the newest Intel CPUs and Lion and onwards.
Coolbook only supports C2D 2010 models. 2011 Sandy and 2012 Ivy do not support undervolting. I don't know about Haswell.

Jim, did you get a new MBA yet? I know you have an 11" but have you purchased the new 2013 model? if yes..what config?
I use CoolBook and keep brightness down to 3rd bar. Note, this shot was taken coming out of standby, so I'm joking around a little bit. But this machine will actually get over 10+ hours, as verified by Anand.
I have an 11" that I use as my corporate machine... and I also have 13" that I use for personal use.
I am going to merge both again (I used to use just one machine) using two different user logins... one for personal, and the other for my corporate stuff. I'm getting tired of carrying both machines on trips. Plus the longer battery life adds a new element of usability. Now I will not bother connecting to a charger during the day (unless it is connected to my home ATD, or work ACD). With ~12 hour battery life, charging during the day will not be necessary.
I'm going to get the 13", i7, 8GB, 512 GB model. I always by the top model every year. There are 5 of us in my family... so I just buy one of everything every year (iPhone, iPad, MBA, iMac)... and I continually have the latest... and everyone else is happy with my leftovers. This way we use our computers for about 5 years... which is a reasonable life. By buying the top models... we have not had a problem having them be really usable over the 5 year lifespan.

I actually wasn't interested in the MBA until the 2012 model that featured decent enough battery life (I was getting 6ish on my '12 13" base model).
I couldn't justify the price of a MBA for 4 hours life in 2011![]()
I see on your drop-down battery menu that it features firefox as being a heavy user of battery life. I don't see anything similar on mine.
Is that a setting you need to turn on, or does it only feature when you have apps really using up battery juice?
That is a new feature of OSX Mavericks. The whole of Activity Monitor has been redesigned too.
I was testing on Maverics too but reinstalled ML, I'm afraid is just DP1 and not fully baked, some apps do not work ,I cannot get out of full screen sometimes and battery readings are superb one day and very poor the next day, I do not think it will be accurate to make a decision based on Mavericks DP1
Firefox. It has always killed my battery life. That's why I went back to Safari.
I have a 13"/i5/8gb/128 and get awesome battery life.
In lecture this morning taking notes on it for 2.5 hours (lecture started at 9)
Although it does seem to drain slower at the beginning of use for me and becomes more normal later. I get around 12 hours of average use for web browsing and non power activities.
I think 20:00 is the maximum the battery will indicate left because it told me that for most of class.

From a full charge, sitting outside writing a document.![]()
You have both machines, can you tell if the changes are only in vertical screen real estate and resolution is similar or the 13" will have bigger fonts ,etc
Thanks.
