Ebay fees, even including Paypal, aren't 20%.

----------

Not even close....you people are funny. If you actually used ebay, you would know that fee calculation isn't even close.

I was a powerseller. I used ebay quite a bit. Yeah... fees are quite close to that (they are closer to 15% for the fees themselves, but consider shipping and insurance as a fee... this isn;t something you ship in a $10 flat rate if you;re smart IMO).

Really the only way to drop it below that is to create a subscription as a seller on eBay, something most folks don;t do unless they are selling a ton of merchandise. I am not sure it's even an option unless you sell a certain amount of product first, but I could be mistaken on the last part. I didn;t become aware of the "pay a flat fee monthly to receive a seller fee discount" option until I had sold a couple hundred items with feedbacks.

Actually, including Paypal, they are 12.9% in the phone category if you don't have a store.

I actually pay 8.5%, including Paypal.

Ok. You're right! That's way off of 15%... What a damn fool I was for not checking the numbers first so that I could be absolutely exact for the casual MR passerby.

As a rough estimate, I don't think I was off by that much. Feel free to nitpick as much as you want man.

What did you sell? Are you sure it wasn't just that you had no listing fee?

eBay charges $10 of ALL the money you get, and paypal, who is also ebay, gets 2.9% of ALL the money you get.

No listing fees, they may have taken a small amount of the money but nowhere near 20%

How Can They Sell Upgrade on Ebay without Potential Problems?

So I watched 6 (64gb) grey sell for 1025. The seller states that he may or may not activate his "Verizon upgrade" before shipping, based on buyer's preference.

Even though Verizon Iphone 6s comes unlocked, will this seller's lack of activation cause a problem for the buyer?

How is Verizon going to treat a phone that hasn't been activated by the original buyer and possibly never activated on the Verizon network? Doesn't that person need to activate, then cancel (even within a day or two) so that the phone is "theirs" and so they pay Verizon the ETF, and sell?

My fear would be that if Verizon never shows activation on its network that it might consider the phone stolen or never received thus blacklisting it?

I'm assuming that it must be untrue that the person purchasing the Verizon phone on his account as an upgrade must return phone if not activated? I guess if this person just keeps the original line open, and does not cancel line of service that Verizon doesn't care who uses the phone, but if the person were to cancel the line within 14 days, Verizon might?

Yes this could be a problem. When ordered online sometimes Verizon will require the owner's last 4 of their social and phone number to activate the phone before it can be used.

While I hate scalping. But to protect people who are taking advantage of the impatience of others, don't sell the phone new/unopened. Activate it with a secondary itunes account and leave FMI on. This way the seller has to contact you to get the password to access.

It's amazing to me (1) people would pay higher than retail price for a phone, and (2) entrust such a risky transaction on ebay.

I would never do either.

Assuming you meant to say 10% of all the money you get. I've sold tens of thousands of things on eBay and the cost of doing business via ebay has gotten ridiculous. Even if you end an auction early, you get dinged 10% of the last bid (ebay assumes that you have made a deal on the side and still wants their cut). You do get one exemption from this each year (one item). Luckily, in 2012, my "one" item was a BMW 550i I was selling.

Using best offer, ending an auction early will not ding you for fees but lots of additional risk.

Wow. There's a 128gb 6 plus bid to $2,025 ending on eBay in 3 hours

Title says it all. This is getting nuts!!

So these people are selling contractual phones. Doesn't that phone have to be activated on the sellers account. What am i not getting here?

If I was really rich I would pay someone an extra couple hundred dollars not to worry about waiting in line or anythin
