I just realized a tiny easter egg while downloading some files in ML with Safari (6.0 fwiw).

For incomplete downloads in Finder the "Date Modified" is listed as
January 24th, 1984 09:00 AM


No further explanation what happened on this date. 😉

Explanation

The reason Apple chose January 24, 1984 (as opposed to any other date) for this Easter egg was that the first Macintosh (the Macintosh 128K) was released to customers on that date.

This is no easter egg. Mac OS 8.5-Mac OS 9.2.2 and (Mac) OS X, especially the Finder use this date for temporary locked files (no attribute changes possible).
