Inserting Own Ringtones

Apologies if this has been covered before. I searched but maybe not asked it correctly.

I recently got myself an iPhone 4 and I want to insert my old ringtone which has been with me for a long time. What is the easiest way to do this? Have tried a few through iTunes but they have been unsuccessful.

Well Cnet have a video online and i get to a step that says, "now drag the file m4r to the ringtone tab in iTunes and then sync your iphone etc..." I can't drag the file from its location on my Mac to the iPhone ringtone tab. It just doesn't want to be dropped.
