After upgrading from some pretty old version of MacOS (2012 Mac Mini running I think Mojave) last year, I noticed an odd behaviour to do with the insertion beam when editing text.
Say I had written - The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Normally - if I double click on "jumps" to select it, and press the delete key, it will delete "jumps " (space before or after??), and the insertion beam will then sit in that space where the word had existed - ie it would be sitting between "fox" and "over".
But, rather randomly, since upgrading it is occasionally placing the insertion beam "x" characters to the left, where "x" is the number of characters that were deleted. So - in the above example - it would place the i-beam just after "brown", instead of in the space between "fox" and "over".
I have been experiencing this for the past year, and have not been able to nail down the exact parameters that cause it. I mostly notice it when writing comments in YouTube, running on Firefox, but I've seen it in other apps too - though perhaps not "Apple" apps? (Safari, Mail.)
Please tell me someone else has seen this?
