Instagram today announced plans to increase the maximum length of videos uploaded to the social network from 15 seconds to 60 seconds, giving iOS users an opportunity to upload and share much longer videos.
We want to bring you fun, flexible and creative ways to create and watch video on Instagram. As part of our continued commitment, you'll soon have the flexibility to tell your story in up to 60 seconds of video. This is one step of many you'll see this year.
iOS users are also regaining the ability to create videos out of multiple clips from the camera roll, a feature that was available once before but was removed when Instagram simplified its video tools. With Instagram version 7.19, iOS users will once again be able to make videos from several different video clips.

As for longer 60 second videos, Instagram is rolling out the feature starting today. Some customers will have immediate access to the longer video option, while others will gain it in the coming months.

YES!! As someone who creates a lot of time-lapse videos, I've been frustrated with the 15-second limitation but this will make a huge difference. I'm not so happy about their supposed new algorithm but this is definitely welcome news.

Hmmm this will surely just open the floodgates to the enormous amount of ****** shared videos from Facebook. Add the loss of chronological view going away soon and this might be the worst twist of directions in a long time for Instagram

I for one would definitely love this, always hated the 15sec time limit.

On a side note, as I re-read that it's not 30sec but a whole 60sec, that's even amazing but does this mean that one day Instagram might just try to be YouTube of mobile platform?

Funny, they seem to have removed the logout button. I've looked EVERYWHERE. I feel like it's 1984 and I'm in room 101 and can't get out.

Logout button is not in the usual locations i.e.

I heard about that too, but I refused to update until I knew for sure the chronological timeline was gonna stay

Where was it cancelled?

A bug in software? How outrageously crazy and unheard of!
A logout button for the world's most popular social media app? Yes pretty much crazy and unheard of. It's not like the button is red instead of blue or something trivial.

Yeah, pretty far from crazy and unheard of, considering there are whole services that sometimes go down for periods of time, if not worse.

When they'll change the icon?
Not sure why that's really a question. If they decide to change it at some point then it seems like that's when it will change.

People are curious to ask questions.

OK, but even with that, who would have an answer to a basically random question like that? We can probably throw in some other ones into the mix, like "What company will buy Instagram next?", "When will Instagram change their name?", "When will Instagram shut down?", etc.

Throw if you want, who stops you?

I do, when the question makes sense.
The question you're confused with made sense :) It's more about expressing yourself than about getting an official answer from Instagram. I'm curious to know why they don't change that old and childish by modern times icon. And even here someone may know and reply what's the story behind keeping it intact for many years.

Following your logic there's no point in any comments here. Don't like the icon? Wait silently till they'll change it. Found a bug? Report directly to Instagram. Don't like the update? Deal with it. Like the update? Good for you. But people are not robots.
