Instagram is Testing a Flatter, Simpler Design for iPhone App

I don't understand this stupid obsession app developers have with making their apps completely white (especially this ugly opaque glass style Apple seems so intent on pushing). All the apps end up looking the same boring colours. Facebook should just leave Instagram how it is and focus on cleaning up their disgusting main app which they just add more trash to every update then forget about it for another couple of months.

Isn't that how future is depicted in many instances? So going down that path is being "cool" and "futuristic" and "fashionable" and whatnot.

As for Facebook, it's hard to say that they are the ones really pushing for anything in particular (at least as far as design goes).

This update happened to me this morning quite a Shock, and I have not updated the App. to the newer version. Too much white for me Dont like it! So did a reset and restored from a Backup, and calmness was restored with the familiar UI, however after going to the App. a second time some kinda OTA voodoo was applied and the White UI was back! Not happy.

It's more of a back end update to enable the account to use the new UI which has been there for a number of Instagram versions.

Perhaps to something older than the last few updates but I'm not sure how far back exactly.
