Instagram today implemented a small but useful change, allowing Instagram users to edit their comments for up to 15 minutes after writing the initial comment.

The Meta-owned social media site has long supported editing an Instagram post, but comments have never been able to be updated to correct typos. Editing a comment can be done by tapping on the new "Edit" option that is displayed after a comment is posted.

Comments on Instagram that have been edited will be marked with a gray edited tag, but Instagram does not allow users to see the original comment.

Yeah I noticed. I complained about that a while ago to Instagram. Glad they implemented it. Now if they can stop showing the same type of ads I said I was NOT interested in for 15,000 times I would be glad. The “not irrelevant,” or “inappropriate,” etc, doesn’t work. 😑

Good to know.

Just kidding I deleted all Meta products years ago and have no regrets. Crazy amounts of brain rot prevented.
Not a bad idea. I would close Facebook except a few friend accounts. Complete slop. And Instagram is getting there (some good accounts beyond friends do exist for example I just followed an artist named Hippienorth [woodworking art. Highly recommended] . I also like weloveanimals [people who save animals; heroism]. So there’s some redeeming factors).

I heard FB marketplace is really good for buying and selling used stuff. My brother in law has had really good success on there.

I started a new Insta account for a few months strictly for learning a new language and art. The recommendations in my feed got weird and I felt like I was being steered into political BS so I closed it. I was very cognizant as to how and why I was using the new account but the algo does what the algo wants to do.

Honest to God, Instagram is now completely unusable. So many ads, I see more ads than I see posts made by the people that I actually follow, and then there are complete random garbage post by unknown pages. Hopefully just like FB to Insta another platform opens up again before en********ation..

I got off social media a year ago. Its just so overwhelmingly negative, toxic and addictive. Even when my rule of thumb was only follow people i know, it just took over my life. Between doing a YouTube channel for 13 years about movies, tech and history, Facebook with both a personal page and a page for the YouTube Channel, Instagram, SnapChat, TickTok, twitter (which i still have but dont use and cant find a way to delete)....My whole day was waking up, seeing likes and comments on YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, be it from followers of my channel, or just friends and family, and if i diden't get the response i was hoping for, it would trigger my ocd and make me feel bad, and i just gradually gave it all up. YouTube was the hardest one cause while i enjoyed making videos, i hated the feedback and strangers judging me and telling me how to run my channel, how im wrong, flawed, etc..... Deleting facebook though was a nightmare...30 days you cant go on it once or it cancels the deletion, that felt like getting off drugs, Uck.

A year later, i dont miss social media one bit yet i still have the compulsion to check it even though its deleted. Im not going back. The only "Social Media" i use is here, and on a Ghostbusters Forum, and some comments on tech stuff on gizmodo which is its own bias echo chamber anyways.

My advice...get off Social Media and enjoy your lives. Dont let it take over your life. Theres more then just being the center of attention with likes, subs clicks and views. Take a photo and save it for later, you dont have to share everything with the world and get feedback on it 24/7.

Insta what? Aren't these the people that will grocery shop for you? 🙂

But seriously, I left all social media behind a long time ago. I still have one account so my spouse can show they have a spouse but I haven't logged into it for years. Politics really drove me away from it. I actually didn't mind pictures of food and pets and people's new babies and stuff like that. But everything seems to devolve into this dumpster fire of political BS. One friend at work "liked" something and the other person saw it. All of a sudden it was a hot mess in the hallways and I was just like "I'm glad I'm away from that Scheiße storm. I don't need it.

I was never on "insta" or any of the other socials. I did FB for years. Quitting was a good move. I very much recommend it.

I might be interested when they update to having human moderation again rather than banning regular people with their AI with no recourse.

So never.
