Facebook needs to be broken up.
Why? Your dislike for the company isn't a valid reason. And there doesn't seem to be any valid monopolization or abuse evidence either.

Judge Boasberg said the FTC’s lawsuit was “legally insufficient” because it didn’t plead enough allegations to support monopolization claims against Facebook.

The rulings dealt a direct, early blow to bipartisan government efforts to pursue Big Tech giants on allegations they have unlawfully monopolized the marketplace.

"At Instagram we’re always trying to copy and paste new features that help you get the most out of your experience."

China ruthlessly copies US software (Amazon, Google, Twitter, Youtube, etc.) while banning that US software. So a US company cloning a Chinese company is fair game. Especially when the Chinese company is required by Chinese law to supply all info to the Chinese military/intelligence services. Using face recognition and AI (provided by Google), along with their ongoing hacks of US credit agencies and government agencies, Tiktok should be considered a security matter and banned from the US - just like China bans US apps.

No. As a photographer I use Instagram BECAUSE it’s focus is photos. Yes there are “stories” and “reels” for folks that want to do that as well, but trying to imitate other apps is not the answer. If I wanted TikTok I’d use TikTok. These are two separate markets, and this is just as bad of an idea as that time McDonalds tried selling pizza.
the mcribs were pretty good though.

Why don’t they innovate on the ideas they already stole. IG is so bloated, people can’t even create enough content for all their avenues. No one can convince me IG isn’t a dying platform.
It's honestly ridiculous at this point. There are three separate feeds to keep track of now, which means you either devote hours of your life every day to scrolling all these feeds, or you focus on one and miss whatever is happening on the others. I mostly stick to stories, as I just can't be bothered with the others.

Chinese companies follow US laws.

US companies can operate in China and compete with domestic companies too if they follow Chinese laws.

Alternative title: Instagram wants to kill Instagram
They already did not long after buying it — although, creators aren’t making things better either (i.e., more text than imagery in so, so many posts). ANY WHO More related to the article… My simple response to this type of change, products to mimmic another product (e.g., people wanting iOS to be more Android-y :: cough :: ), is if I liked TikTok, I’d download and join TikTok.

Mark my words, when you open the IG app it’ll look just like TikTok and the primary tab will be videos; and the regular feed will be hidden away somewhere and neglected. Naturally, you will not be able to opt out either.

Facebook purposely does things like this to piss people off and force compliance. It’s part of their social project to skew and gauge human behavior so they can sell it off to other companies that want to manipulate people as well.

That's why Instagram is just good and not great.

Steve Jobs: “Good artists copy, great artists steal. We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas.”
The first part of that quote is actually Picasso, the second part is Jobs....

Get rid of your stupid shopping button and sending a push notification every time you send somebody a video. Tiktok is eating your lunch and you deserve it.

time is flat circle
"bloated" is sooo understated here. Too many features dragging it away from what made it popular in the first place. Businesses will argue that it is essential to progress and keep up with tastes, but you risk losing so many users from its lack of functionality and usability.

I'd worry about keeping the users that they have through ease of use, fun, and less of the banning people for silly ****. I get banned for memes from 2 years ago...that literally no one will ever see.
...It was a ball gag with a kazoo attached btw.
