Ok... Facebook mobile engineering is kinda lame. The Messenger and Facebook apps aren't updated for XS Max yet and now Instagram is going backwards. A round of applause for them!

Can someone please post a screenshot of what they’re talking about? I’m lost here

@akash.nu @BoricuaHec01 @AndyDandy1 @Shark5150

The app is not optimised for Xs max resolution anymore.

Nope. Just wait it out. Instagram must know already about this and I’m hoping they’re working on it.

The only other possible way is if you’ve had a previous iTunes secure backup, then you can go back to that. Although I haven’t restored from an iTunes backup for so long that I’ve forgotten if it also backs up apps or just the data.

Restoring from an iTunes backup just downloads the latest version of the app from the store with user data being the only thing restored.
[doublepost=1545296140][/doublepost]I haven't seen a single tech blogger bring this issue up. They'll happily post 20 articles on how to turn on your new iPhone, but legit issues? No way. As soon as a site like TheVerge or 9to5Mac brings this up, you'll at least get an official response from Instagram.

Yeah I suspected that. Just couldn’t confirm because I haven’t done a iTunes restore in years.

Any app developers that need to support such an old version essentially need to create 2 separate builds of the project and release them as separate apps.

Yeah because that’d give great, not at all confusing UX... it’s perfectly plausible and not that hard to support iOS 9+ in 2018 (obviously unless your whole experience depends on ARKit etc).

The issue is an Xcode 10 issue which has forced them to use Xcode 9, and they obviously believe the iOS 9 contingent is worth the effort (also no one wants a crashing completely broken app). Apple should fix it :rolleyes:

Yep completely agree, although I’m not in favour of supporting such an old version of the OS. But then that’s a business decision based on number of users.
