Perfect! Just what the world needed! So similar to Tik Tok, but instead of being stalked by China we get stalked by FaceBook! PeRfeCt!

I tend to be skeptical of Chinese software; but if my only two choices were "spied on by China" or "spied on by Facebook"... I'd probably go with China. :p

(FWIW I left Facebook several years ago, and I don't use TikTok)

How about some serious privacy options Instagram?

I can't make the accounts I follow private (only me)!!!

No privacy options for each posts!!!

Article pretty much states this I believe.
these Reels will be on Stories, the most skippable part of IG (just a row of icons at the top of the feed)—either way, the execs probably think they have to do this so they’re not completely destroyed by TikTok, which is the path things are (unfortunately) currently on

(read: I use Instagram but I also hate it lmao…I’d elaborate but that’s more of a PRSI tangent)

I think this is FB, ahem Instagram taking advantage of the huge rhetoric and negative media of the US CEO of US TikTok being a puppet and the gov wanting to ban or restrict TikTok from being used. I think a bunch of kids 7-18 will loose their minds if the app suddenly gets deleted and unable to re-download again.

beyond all the spying and all that dark web stuff of TikTok and communist party government mumbo ... it's mostly a collection of kids doing silly fun they would normally do in their own rooms and homes or in the school play yard (to a very lesser extent). I actually see this as kids being less fearful of being whom they want to be or just ... 'being' themselves without the typical bullying we've all experienced from previous generations at school or in your parks close at home. Now it seems the bullies what to be creative and noticed too so they do the silly stunts too, if not more aggressive in your face dumb videos. Whats funny to kids catches on quick and rides for a few months then dies off. I don't use it but I've personally seen it and watching a kid drunk and doing TikTok drunk is beyond hilarious - trust me you'll bust a gut (because it's serious to them trying to follow the current trend/mem video thing to do).

All in all ... having more than one app that does what they want offers them choice and ability to stay in one app. Kids bounce from app to app on their phones like we professionals bounce from app to app to site to site on our computers, and conversations in a bar or hang-out session with friends and colleagues. The similarities are there, but ...

the comedy of watching a teen do some TikTok video while their drunk (you sober, drunk or high) will save you $60 from a movie night out or $80 at a bar laughing with friends. There just isn't anything else as hilarious! Trust me, you'll have tears of joy.

I must admit I love Tik Tok and it’s my little escape from the seriousness of this world at the moment when browsing on my phone. I think if Instagram released a rival then it would win as Instagram is already immensely popular.
