I find that my 2009 iMac is getting very, very slow since I upgraded to 10.11 so I believe it is time to get a new iMac.

I use the Adobe CS4 applications (Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Illustrator) on an occasional basis (read not very often) not anywhere near often enough to justify $600 per year for the CC solution, so I guess I need to try to install CS4 on a new iMac.

I have read that others have done this with some success and I want to get it straight before I deauthorize my CS4 on my current iMac and try to install on a new iMac.

The one thing I have heard is that I must install a legacy version of Java (2014.001) before I start installing the CS4.

Then install CS4 and go through the authorization process with Adobe.

Is there anything else I need to to to insure an orderly installation?

Thanks ever so much,

Andy

I'm using CS5 with the latest Java following the instructions here.

I've written a little script to automate the few steps needed.

Edit: details on what the script does are here.

Edit 2: updated script for Java 9
