When doing a clean wipe of your OS X on my Mac Pro 2.66,
why are there 2 install disks.....?

Do i need both install disks to do a clean install ?

The second disk has the ilife suite and bundled software on it, likely. Unless you do a custom install, it will prompt you for the second disc and install those softwares.
 
ok, so if i don't need that extra stuff,

then i can do i clean install with just disk 1 ...?
 
to do a clean install using just disc 1 you have to do a custom install and deselect ilife and the bundled apps. im not sure if mac pros come with bundled apps or trials but my macbook pro did.

if you deselect everything thats on disc 2 the installer wont ask you to insert it and if you want to install ilife etc you have to insert disc 2 to finish the install.
