I'm seeing a lot of posts/threads about how buggy Beta 3 is compared to beta 2. I can almost guarantee you if you install Beta 3 as a NEW install 90% of the issues will go away. I'm talking out of experience. The following issues I've had in previous betas went away with a NEW Install

- Battery draining fast
- iMessages not working properly
- phone running hot
- random crashes in settings, wallpapers and other places.

All of these issues were resolved by installing the beta as NEW. Once I download the full IPSW for Beta 3 believe me I'm going to blow out this OTA update and install everything new.

Try this first before posting things like "omg beta 3 is worse!".

Yeah I'm going to do this as soon as I get my hands on the IPSW. I'm gonna restore from backup though, cba starting anew again :(

I don't trust the OTA updates at all. I will continue to install every beta as new from IPSW.

The problem is that 99% of users will simply update OTA when iOS 7 becomes available to the masses, so the notion that fresh installs solve all problems is irrelevant. If the software cannot be stable following an OTA update, then it needs work. It is not sufficient to tell hundreds of millions of customers that they need to wipe their phone and start over again.

if you do new install then how will you get your old texts back?

It has a Beta label for a reason. You should accept/prepare that there may be data loss so have backups just in case. Personally, I haven't even installed half the apps I use because I'm ready to wipe/install at any given time.

You are wasting a lot of time and convenience.

I always do OTA and have zero problems. Beta 2 was a drastic improvement over beta 1, and beta 3 has been perfectly fine so far but only time will tell.

Reset All Settings has basically the same effect.

Only major corruption errors need a full reinstall and setup as new.

Further, Reset All Content and Settings is exactly the same as reloading the ipsw (except in the case of major corruption)

Beta 2 OTA was a disaster for me. iMessages was stuck between enabled/disabled making the OS freeze up. The battery was running hot and I was seeing a lot of crashes. installing Beta 2 fresh fixed all the issues.

I did OTA of b2 and didn't have any issues.

I have had nothing but good luck with the beta's, and I have been doing the OTA delta updates on my iPhone 5.

reset all settings also works. my cousins ip5 was draining fast and after a settings reset, everything worked out fine.

Beta 3 seems to be the second most unstable OS since the first release. I get constant crashes in the photos app, the settings app and even the camera app.

Still a LOT more work to do.

Would it still run smoothly if I restore iOS 6 put my back up on ios 6 again then update

Same here. That, plus massive (5-10 second) keyboard lag and I'm getting ready to restore to 6.1.4. :(

The important thing is that you're getting a chance to see how your app is working in the new environment. As a developer, you know how important that is.

After doing a second Reset All Settings my keyboard lag is gone and things seem to be going well. Keeping my fingers crossed :)

So it must be my phone, I'll return it asap

You're doing something wrong, so you can ram your rolleyes smiley.

Beta 2 - Camera bug: would launch first time, if you returned to the home screen and relaunched it would reboot your phone.

FIXED. Camera app works as normal.

Beta 2 - Settings bug: occasionally when scrolling quickly, app would throw you back to the home screen.

FIXED.

Beta 3 IS more stable than beta 2. It's your phone or your install. Deal with it.
