Does anyone know how you can Install Internet Explorer on a Mac and what version can you you get, Because I have my old Trellix Website at Tripod Lycos, as their updated Zeeblio websites ain't worth a crap. Anyway I can't edit my Trellix Website Properly with out Internet Explorer. FireFox and Chrome just can't handle it and that leaves out Microsoft Edge too because it comes from Chrome it doesn't work like Internet Explorer does, it is stupid Microsoft's fault for changing their Browser.

I have tried installing every version there is of Internet Explorer on my Mac but not a single one of them will install not even IE7 or IE8. I have heard tell that IE8 works but it won't install on my mac when I run the installer it say's it needs to be Updated before it can work. How do you update it.

I need Internet Explorer on my Mac, I used to use Netscape Navigator 9 but it can't log on to Tripod anymore and it was the only alternative to Internet Explorer on a Mac.

I know I could run Windows on my Mac I have Windows XP installed on it in VirtualBox, but it doesn't have a working version of Internet Explorer either IE6 doesn't work on the internet and I don't want to have to run a whole bigger operating system like Windows 7 or bootcamp just for one Application.

Please Help..

The last Mac-native version of IE is version 5, and won't run on any Mac released in perhaps the last decade. If you really need IE then you'll need a Windows VM (and it sounds like you need something newer than XP).

I'm not familiar with Tripod (that name's a blast from the past though) so I can't give any specifics.

On Windows:
Edge has IE mode https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev...e-in-microsoft-edge-internet-explorer-driver/
“You can bring Internet Explorer back to life in Windows 11” https://www.theverge.com/tldr/2022/...nternet-explorer-windows-11-why-microsoft-why

On macOS, you should be able to run Internet Explorer with Wine or CrossOver

Thanks for the suggestions, but I tried the Crossover Browser because I am using Porting Kit with BigSur but it won't work with Tripods Trellix either,. I found a solution though it turns out the XP VM I have installed came with Internet Explorer 8 installed it just was hidden because it installs a specialized Chrome Version 59 Browser by default for Surfing the web and doesn't use Internet Explorer. But I found it and it works so I decided to use it for editing my website on my Mac.

Still wish I could run it Natively with Porting Kit though, but I don't want to pay for Crossover.. Of Course I could break down and go the Bootcamp way and just install Windows 10 on my Macbook Air. I may do it so I can connect to the Microsoft Store. It's a real pain having to switch computers all the time.

For Microsoft Edge you can't log in to Microsoft 365 unless you have a company or school account you can't use your personal account and then you have to compile a .xml site list and you have to be using one of three programs to Manage your Windows Devices either Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, or Group Policy who uses those out side of an organization. Otherwise you can't configure Microsoft Edge to use Internet Explorer Mode on a Mac or even on Windows as a individual. You need a administrator or more likely an IT Professional.

Yep, Tripod and Trellix are pretty old Firefox wasn't even a browser when they came out is probably why it can't work it fully and my free Tripod Website doesn't even have Ads they used to have them back in the day but I guess websites have forgotten about Tripod so there are none anymore.

Have you looked into any of the online virtual IE testing websites?

Nope, I hadn't heard of such a thing til just now, I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

tripod is a blast from the past…. the search uses lycos… 😎
Yep, Companies have even forgotten about them because your Free Tripod Website is suppose to have Ads but it doesn't because nobody uses Lycos in 2023. lol

I found that Chrome has Extensions that both it and Microsoft Edge can install that will load pages using Internet Explorer, one is called IEAbility. You have to log in to it because the extensions use cloud technology. However it does work for editing your Trellix site while using Microsoft Edge.
