Install Java Runtime Environment message

    I see this message pop up almost daily -

    To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment.

    Click “More Info…” to visit the website for the Java Runtime Environment.

    I usually click the link and do it but then there is another one and another one. Is anyone else getting these messages and how can I make them stop? I believe they started sometime last year.

    I had to install an earlier version of Java (maybe java 6?) to get rid of that popup.

    Do you have any idea what kind of web sites you're going to that require it? What I mean is, can you tell why a certain web site is asking for it?

    Yes, I'm using Yosemite. The message box would pop up randomly. I just used Chrome to download Java 6. Read that it might not work if done in Safari. I'll see if that works.
