Install KMPlayer on Mac?

Has anyone been able to install KMPlayer on their Macbook?

I have Macos Monterey 12.5.1. I downloaded KMplayer from here but it wouldn't install:

I've been using KMplayer on Windows for more than 10 years and I would love to have it on my Macbook.

I suggest VLC as will many others.

I installed VLC and like it. Can I change screen brightness when I'm in this particular app? For example, do something in the settings that would set the brightness to maximum when I'm watching a movie in VLC in full screen.
And then reduce it when I close VLC.
