So, I have a Windows PC and I have macOS VM via VMWare. Is there any way I can install, macOS Big Sur on external NVME (I have NVME enclosure) from Windows using the VM or something so that I can transfer the new NVME and replace the old SSD In my current Macbook Air 13 Inch (2015) running on Mojave?

If it is just like any normal virtual machine, I don't see why this is not possible.
Not sure if Big Sur and beyond will work well on VMWare especially after Apple ditching Intel. You probably can't install many more newer versions down the line. QEMU might be your best bet later on. Just my $0.02

So how does one install macOS from Windows on a NVME ? Running the macOS VM boots directly on the OS, can I install it inside the OS? or can I go to recovery?

I wanted to know the process because My Macbook Air is having some problems installing OS. I am trying to install it via. USB (Installer) to USB (NVME enclosure) using my Macbook Air. But I wanted a backup plan if this does not work.

And hopefully replace the new NVME with the old one.

edit: misread problem

what is wrong with your MacBook Air anyways?
what year, OS you are trying to install?

I got BigSur on my 2010 last month

Linus tech tips did that without a patch and mackintosh software
you need a linux based pc, a Mac, quick pause button reflex and lotsa terminal cut and paste
I think they eventually ran Mojave on a Ryzen (processor or ssd drive, who knows?)

I need the OS to run on My Macbook not on a PC

I have trouble installing all OS on my Macbook Air 13 Inch 2015 (Mojave). Mind you, I have installed macos on 3 of my friends Macbook Airs and Pros before and after they upgraded to NVME. I have no problem and installed it fine with 0 errors on theirs.

But My Macbook, throws error even after 10-30 tries, with different OS download from other sources. And sometimes it installs with no problem with the same USB stick which throws error for 10+ times I tried install.

I think the problem was the SSD, so I tried upgrading it after 4 years of usage. But after I replace, I still got the same old errors same as the old ssd.

It runs fine after the installation goes through. The problem is with the installation part. Need at least 50+ tries.

What I am trying to do.
1. I am ordering NVME enclosure and will install the OS on the NVME as an external USB. And hopefully if the Installation is finished, I'll swap the old SSD with the newly installed one.

I am scared this will still fail because I will run this installation using same MacBook Air.

2. If the above, the only solution left is my Windows PC. I need to be able to install the OS via USB NVME Enclosuer using Virtual Machine or something, and hopefully swap out with the old nvme and run on my MacBook air and I needed help in this.

VMware can use physical disk as virtual disk and install OS on it. It might not work exactly like installing macOS from a Mac to an NVME storage, but files should be there.
