I just bought an iMac, and I would like to install Microsoft Office. My question is, do I...

1) Install Office 2008 now, and then install the free upgrade to Office 2011 when it comes out in October, or
2) Just grin and bear it and wait for Office 2011 to come out.

My main concern is the bloat that happens over time when you install/uninstall applications. I just switched from PC to Mac, so I don't know how much of a concern this is on a Mac. On a PC, it's a big problem, as over time the computer just gets slower because old applications never take all the bits and pieces with them when you uninstall. I guess I just have a fear of bloating up my nice, new Mac.

Any suggestions most welcome! Thanks in advance.

It depends whether you need to use the Office apps now or wait two months. Do you have iWork? If so, I'd use that if not and it was me and my needs, I'd get Office for Mac 08 now and then go with the upgrade if you think you need it. I have OFM 08 and use it daily and I am not sure if I will really need 11 when it comes out. I am going to wait and see how it works in the field first and follow along here at MR to see how people like it first before deciding whether it is worth the $ for the upgrade/newer version.

I would install Office and upgrade when the time comes. Its not a big deal to uninstall and reinstall of one disk.
