install or boot over network

my ibooks osx system curupted and i lost my panther disks for my ibook so i need to install or boot over network i have a tiger dmg that i could hopefully use for a temporary fix
i have a crossover cable is either of these possible

Maybe it would be better to connect the two macs together via Firewire and activate Target Disk Mode (Restarting iBook and holding down "T" during start up) and then loading the CD onto the other mac, hopefully the installer will see the iBooks hard drive and you can select that one to install Tiger on it
