Install software over a network?

My iBook's optical drive is hosed. I want to install iLife on it (iPhoto to be exact). I also have a Mac mini, which is functioning perfectly.

Both machines are running OS X 10.4.11.

I'm wondering if I can have my Mac mini access the iBook over the network and install iPhoto on it? If so, how can I do this? I know I can do this with a Firewire cable, but I don't have one handy, and I need to do this as soon as possible.

Have you tried dropping Ilife into the public folder on the macmini and then accessing the macmini's public folder on the ibook?
