Install with one disc, resiger with another?

I'm sorry if this has been asked already, but I did mroogle it.

I know that there isn't any hard copy protection on Snow Leopard, but I wanted to do this the legit way, so my roommate and I both bought our own copies. I left this morning without putting out the pre-authorization form for FedEx but he left his.

My question is, if mine is not delivered, can I install with his disc and register with mine, or is the serial number in the package specific to the disc in the package and I won't be able to register?

There are no serial numbers at all, period. Nothing matters, but I'm glad you bought your own copy.
